National Custodial Worker Day: Celebrate the people who make us feel welcome!

Today, October 2, is National Custodial Worker Day and we want to recognize, celebrate and thank all of the amazing individuals in the cleaning profession for all of their hard work!

Making sure a facility is properly maintained is no small task, and throughout Diversey’s long history we have worked side by side with custodians worldwide to find ways to improve the appearance and hygiene of buildings worldwide. People in the custodial and cleaning profession often work long hours at odd times to take care of buildings without ever being noticed by the majority of people passing through. However,  the results of their efforts are among the most critically important and highly recognizable things seen in a facility.

Let’s use October 2nd to recognize these heroes who strive to make sure everyone has a clean, hygienic and inviting experience anywhere they go.

According to National Today, here are a few ways you can celebrate National Custodian Day.

  • Do something nice for a custodian you know

    • Bake a cake, grab a gift card, or simply write a thank you note in order to show the custodians in your life that you care. Everyone likes to receive acknowledgment of a job well done, and a little extra sweet treat thrown into the mix doesn't hurt either.

  • Organize an office potluck to celebrate National Custodian Day

    • Send out an email blast inviting your coworkers to help you celebrate National Custodian Day. Ask everyone who signs up to commit to making a dish. Bonus points if you are able to keep the festivities a surprise from the custodians until they walk into the potluck party!

  • Clean your space!

    • It might not be your job to maintain public facilities, but that doesn't mean that there aren't other spaces that you are responsible for cleaning. Channel your inner custodian by making sure that your living spaces are well groomed and left in mint condition.
